Accountancy Task Force is one of London's longest established accountancy recruitment companies, and is one of the first places to look for interim as well as permanent financial managers.

|
Bob Page, ran ATF for over 20 years until
1996, and has recently joined forces with experienced management consultant and former
Finance Director, David Wicker. As well as specialising in the recruitment of senior finance staff and
interim managers, ATF also handle middle grades of Accountancy and Insurance personnel. |
 |
|
Ironically, says Page, who has some
400 personnel on the company books, it is the global slowdown and market uncertainties which
have helped generate interest in the services which he and Wicker are offering:
|
 |
“It is at times of
uncertainty that tight financial controls really are at a premium. The UK
position has been further complicated by the different tiers to the economy. From
sector to sector there are enormous variations going on. But whether you are
experiencing growth, or looking to downsize or restructure to cope with a drop
in demand, you need strong financial management. |
|
|
“Getting the right person in
early in the restructuring process gives businesses room to manoeuvre before they run
out of road. Many of the people we have available have already been through a
recession and come out the other side - which gives them a hell of an edge.” |
Wicker agrees, adding that: “With the future so hard to call - and
no one sure when or indeed if there ís going to be a bounce back - many
companies are opting to bring in experienced people to deal with
the changes needed, but who they can then chop out or take on permanently when the
situation settles. Companies are inevitably hampered by extreme
caution and a fear of the future, but the demand for
quality personnel is and will always be there. That
ís the gap that ATF aims to fill.” |
 |
|
 |
Bob Page is bullish about the future prospects in the marketplace:
“Even companies that are struggling are striving to improve their
accounting efficiency, tighten financial controls, and receive better management
information. This obviously creates a need for further expertise, either on an
interim or permanent basis.” “I think that good times are ahead for
the smart players”. |
